A romantic weekend in Puglia does not need to be a race between destinations. With 48 hours and a base in Martina Franca old town, you can combine Baroque streets, two Itria Valley villages, local food and genuinely private time together. This itinerary suits travellers arriving on Friday evening or Saturday morning and leaving on Sunday.

Before you travel
How to plan a romantic weekend in Puglia
Your first useful decision is where to stay. A base in Martina Franca old town lets you begin and end the day on foot, close to Piazza Roma, the Basilica of San Martino and the lanes of the historic centre. A car is mainly useful for reaching other Itria Valley towns.
Martina Franca and one or two nearby villages are enough for 48 hours. Locorotondo and Cisternino make a compact route; Alberobello needs more time and is best visited in the morning. The right choice depends on what you enjoy together, not on how many places you can tick off.

A 48-hour itinerary
A balanced plan for the town, the valley and time to relax
Day 1
Martina Franca on foot and a private evening
Start in Piazza Roma at Palazzo Ducale, walk through Porta di Santo Stefano and continue towards Piazza Plebiscito and the Basilica. Baroque facades, balconies and whitewashed houses are best enjoyed slowly; our one-day Martina Franca guide provides a more detailed route.
Take a break in the afternoon before returning to the lanes around sunset. In the evening, dine in town or request a romantic dinner served in the Suite, arranged in advance and subject to availability.

Day 2
Locorotondo and Cisternino, or Alberobello
For an easy route, choose Locorotondo in the morning and Cisternino in the afternoon. Both towns offer short walks, views across the countryside and time for a local lunch without travelling far from Martina Franca.
If seeing the trulli is your priority, spend the morning in Alberobello and return to Martina Franca after lunch. Do not add a third destination: a quiet return leaves room for the heated indoor pool, the private wellness area or an optional in-Suite massage.
Choose the right detail
Three ways to personalise the weekend
01
Private time
Choose a Suite reserved for the couple and protect a few hours of the plan from visits and driving.
02
One meaningful extra
A massage, dinner or arrangement that fits the occasion is better than stacking several services together.
03
A prepared surprise
Share the anniversary, birthday or occasion in advance so the available options can be checked properly.
Suite San Martino’s extra services are optional and subject to availability. Confirming the date, formula and timings first makes it possible to receive a precise proposal rather than a generic promise.
